Whether you are setting up a new EMS or Fire course or preparing for the first day of class, Navigate has everything you need to engage your students and help them learn and succeed. The platform brings together digital course materials, instructor resources, assignments, quizzes, Gradebook tools, student activity tracking, and other teaching and learning resources in one place.  

To make it easier to find the help you need, Jones & Bartlett Learning offers a self-serve Navigate Instructor Support page with training videos, step-by-step documents, and a complete Instructor Training Manual. These resources are available anytime, so you can get answers before class, between sessions, or while building your course. 

What Is Navigate? 

Navigate is Jones & Bartlett Learning’s digital learning platform, built for EMS and Fire instructors to support teaching, student engagement, and course management. Depending on the course and package, Navigate may include an interactive eBook, student practice activities, assessments, instructor resources, reporting tools, TestPrep, lectures, simulations, and other course materials.  

For instructors, Navigate can help streamline tasks such as organizing content, creating assignments, monitoring student progress, and using Gradebook tools. For students, Navigate provides access to digital course materials and learning activities that support preparation, practice, and review. 

Find the Navigate Help You Need, When You Need It 

The Navigate Instructor Support page is organized to help new and experienced instructors quickly find resources by topic. 

The page includes a complete Navigate Instructor Training Manual, which you can download for a broader overview or jump directly to the topic that applies to your question. 

Getting Started in Navigate 

If you or your students are new to Navigate, the support page will get you up and running quickly. Instructors can find guidance on logging in, redeeming access codes, resetting passwords, adding other instructors, requesting course copies, and managing user accounts. 

Having one place to direct students and colleagues can help reduce back-and-forth questions and keep the course launch process moving. 

Build, Customize, and Manage Your Course 

Once you are in your course, Navigate helps you organize and customize the learning experience. The Instructor Support page will help you set your local time zone, create custom course topics, move or rearrange course content, add files or links, hide items from students, apply access requirements, and use eBook groups to share notes with your class. 

The support page also helps you create quizzes and assignments, edit quiz settings, add questions, set due dates or time limits, manage attempts and grading, apply quiz exceptions, grade submissions, and use the annotation tool.  

Track Progress and Support Student Engagement 

Navigate makes it easy for instructors to monitor student performance and activity throughout the course. Learn to set up the Gradebook, enter or change grades, create manually graded items, exporting Gradebook data, enable course activity completion tracking, verify individual student activity, and review eBook analytics.
