At ECSI, we recognize that many Education Centers and instructors may be exploring distance learning training models for the first time.

With ECSI online courses, students can complete the knowledge-based component of the course in the safety of their home and complete the hands-on skills evaluations with an instructor to obtain an ECSI digital course completion card at a later date.

To complete the knowledge-based component of an ECSI online course, a student may redeem an access code by clicking the Account Log In link at https://www.ecsinstitute.org/. An access code may be purchased directly by the student* on our website or supplied by the instructor.

Explore both options below:

If the student purchases an online course access code directly:

  1. Make sure to keep the invoice number from Jones and Bartlett Learning, as it will be needed during the hands-on skills evaluation portion of the course.
  2. The student completes the online portion of the course. Upon completion, they will receive a course completion acknowledgement form for the online portion only:
ECSI Dummy CertificateNote: ECSI is extending course completion card validity for a period of 120 days for those who are unable to access training during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to monitor the situation and may make further changes in the future. Please visit our FAQ page for more information.

  3. The student brings a copy of the course completion acknowledgement form to the ECSI Skills Testing Center*, along with their invoice number from Jones and Bartlett Learning for an on-site skills check.

    • The student demonstrate the ability to perform the required skills for an ECSI instructor at an ECSI Skills Testing Center.

    • Once the student has successfully completed the required skills, then the instructor redeems the student's invoice and issues a digital course completion card (in the same manner as an instructor would do for an in-person course).

If an ECSI instructor supplies the online course access code to the student:

  1. Once the unique online course access code has been purchased, the ECSI instructor can then email it to the student.**

  2. The student completes the online portion of the course. Upon completion, the student will receive a course completion acknowledgement form for the online portion of the course only:

ECSI Dummy CertificateNote: ECSI is extending course completion card validity for a period of 120 days for those who are unable to access training during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to monitor the situation and may make further changes in the future. Please visit our FAQ page for more information.

  3. The student demonstrates the ability to perform the required skills for an ECSI instructor at an ECSI Skills Testing Center.

    • Once the student has successfully completed the required skills, then the instructor issues a digital course completion card (in the same manner as an instructor would do for an in-person course).

Do you have questions about implementing blended training for your ECSI Education Center? Please contact our Membership Office at (978) 639-3590 (ext. 4) or
[email protected] today.

*Prior to purchasing an online course, ECSI encourages students to locate an ECSI Skills Testing Center nearby where they can perform an on-site skills check and also to inquire about pricing and availability.

**As an ECSI instructor, you qualify to offer on-site skills testing for students who have taken an ECSI online course. On-site skills testing is a great way to garner new business for your Education Center and promote safety training in your community. ECSI does not mandate what our Education Centers charge for the on-site skills testing. So, whether you choose to simply cover the cost of the skills testing and course completion card, or charge a nominal fee, the choice is yours.
