At the FLSE II level, a community risk reduction, or CRR, model is followed. This interactive e-learning course gives definitions of risk and risk assessment. Once the most important community risks are identified and prioritized, strategies to mitigate the risks are developed. Most often a combination of strategies leads to the most effective resolution and desired outcome for the safety of the community.

After completing this course, the firefighter will be able to:

• Explain the reasons a community risk assessment is important tot eh process of establishing safety education priorities.
• Identify the types of risks that could face a community.
• Collect community demographic data given sources of relevant information
• Prioritize identified community risks

Firefighters who successfully complete the Community Risk Assessment (Fire Edition) course are eligible for 0.5 hours of continuing education.
