This Recert course describes incident size-up, determination of incident priorities, and development of tactical assignments to control a fire. It also covers establishment of command, command transfer procedures, multiple-alarm incidents, and special considerations.

After completing this course, the fire officer will be able to:

• Discuss the results of the full-scale structure fire experiments conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
• Describe a fire officer’s role in supervising a single company.
• Describe how to size up the incident.
• Discuss how to develop an incident action plan (IAP).
• Discuss tactical safety considerations when fighting fires.

Fire officers who successfully complete the Fire Attack course are eligible for 1.5 hours of continuing education.
