This Recert course discusses , they will understand the fire fighter’s role in stabilizing and removing victims of motor vehicle crashes. Students will also learn the basic anatomy of motor vehicles and the safety hazards involved with vehicle extrication. This module also discusses the tools required for victim extrication and the associated extrication skills to gain access via displacing a door, dashboard, or roof.

After completing this course, the fire fighter will be able to:

• Describe the types of motor vehicles.
• Describe the four different types of alternative fuels that power motor vehicles.
• Describe the extrication tools that are used for accessing locked compartments in a motor vehicle.
• Describe how to gain access to a victim of a motor vehicle collision.

Fire fighters who successfully complete the Vehicle Rescue and Extrication course are eligible for 1.5 hours of continuing education.
