Fisdap exams to be updated to 2015 CPR and ECC Guidelines by August 1, 2016
Last October, the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and American Heart Association released their 2015 updates to the guidelines for CPR and ECC. Fisdap strives to remain clinically relevant and reflect the most current information in EMS, so our testing community is busy reviewing test items at all levels to ensure that those items remain valid under the new guidelines.
To date, over 2,000 test items have been reviewed to ensure compliance with the new guidelines. Any item found to be impacted by the updated guidelines will be changed to reflect the new material. Once updated, these items will go through the same validation process as all other items. The review process requires each affected item to be reviewed by a minimum of 3 SMEs and a board certified Emergency Medicine physician.
The National Registry of Emergency Medicine Technicians (NREMT) anticipates that by September 1, 2016 all NREMT cognitive and psychomotor examinations will reflect the 2015 Guidelines. We expect to have our exams updated one month prior to this date in order to help students prepare for the national certification exam.
Fisdap includes the EMS community in all phases of item creation and exam validation and we continue to recruit additional subject matter experts. If you are interested in participating in our item creation or exam validation processes, please contact Mike Bowen, Director of Testing, at [email protected]. Your participation can help you earn Reward Points that can be used to discount Fisdap products.
