  • Describe the steps needed to use a pulse oximeter.
  • Describe the special considerations to take for victims with stomas, victims with dental appliances, and airway management in a vehicle.
  • Describe the steps needed to perform CPR on adult, child, and infant victims.
  • Describe the steps used to manage shock.
  • Explain the steps needed to control external bleeding.
  • Explain the steps needed to perform basic management of burns.
  • Explain the steps needed to provide manual stabilization of the cervical spine.
  • Discuss triage at a mass-casualty incident.
  • Describe how to ensure safety at emergency medical services.

Fire fighters who successfully complete the Emergency Medical Care course are eligible for 2 hours of continuing education.
